Seasons Change

This morning, while I was having my Mediterranean breakfast on the front porch, I also took the opportunity to study my surroundings, including all the plants, flowers, butterflies, birds, and leaves. Several zephyrs were blowing, and leaves were flowing down in a continuous, rhythmic flow.

We do not really have foliage colors at this tropical altitude. In the center of the lotus enlightened circle, there are four myrtle trees with beautiful bark. The burgundy matured myrtle leaves are among my favorites.  Even in late October, there are only a few of them, adding outstanding color among all the regular young dark green leaves.

I was feeling another breeze, and a couple of the maroon leaves were falling …

How in tune I am with nature, I was melancholic.

I liked to collect them, even used them as my painting models, so that the painting could remind me of my favorite leaves.

Birth, aging, sickness, and death are the inevitabilities in all living things. They are nature, which can be interpreted as fundamental truths of existence that, when understood, can lead to the pursuit of a path to liberation.
